Lazeez Food Products

Out here at the Industrial Estate, things stay pretty busy. We are Lazeez Food Products, right across from Tansen Road. It’s not the quietest place to work with all the other factories around, but it suits us. Our building is basically just a big workspace where we get everything ready. There’s always the smell of whatever we’re making hanging in the air, which isn’t so bad compared to the exhaust from the trucks outside. We have a small crew that comes in early every morning to start the machines and get the packaging lines moving. It’s a lot of routine work, checking weights and making sure the seals are tight on every bag. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to sit around waiting for the generator to kick in, which gives us a chance to have some tea and talk about the news. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that because most of our stuff goes out on pallets to shops in the city. If you come by, you’ll probably see a couple of tempos backed up to the loading dock. It’s a practical setup. We spend most of the day in hairnets and aprons, just keeping an eye on the production. It’s steady work, and we’ve been in this same spot for years now, watching the other units come and go on Tansen Road. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just keeping the pantry items moving to the people who buy them.
