Shiv General Store

The store is located at Ghat Mode on Basai Road, right in the Wazirabad Market area. It is a busy place to be, especially in the mornings when everyone is out getting their groceries for the day. We keep a bit of everything here, from bags of rice and flour to small packets of biscuits and soap. The shelves are always being restacked because things move fast and there is never enough room for everything we want to keep. Usually, I’m behind the counter and someone is asking for a specific brand of tea or a liter of milk. We know most of the people who live around here, and we see the kids growing up as they come in for their snacks after school. It’s a lot of work keeping track of the stock and making sure we don't run out of the basics. The market can get quite loud with the traffic on Basai Road and the vendors calling out, but inside the store, it’s just the usual business of weighing things out and making change. Sometimes the delivery trucks come at the same time and everything gets a bit chaotic for an hour or two. We don't have fancy displays or automated checkout lines. It’s just us doing things the old-fashioned way, writing things down in a notebook when needed. It’s a long day from opening up early until we pull the shutters down late at night, but that's how market life is.
