Working up on the 14th Floor of Building 9A in DLF Cyber City is a bit of a trek every morning. It’s a very busy place, Phase III, with lots of people in suits and big office buildings everywhere. Being part of Cargill India in this part of Gurgaon means we see a lot of the modern side of the city. The elevators are always busy in the morning and during the lunch hour. From our windows, we can see the other buildings and the traffic down below on the highway. Our office is a large space with lots of desks and computers where everyone is doing their own thing. It’s a bit different from a small shop on the street, but the work is still just work. We spend a lot of time on calls or typing away at our screens. The air conditioning is always on, which is a relief from the heat outside. Even though it’s a big building, we have our own little routines, like where we get our coffee or who sits where. It’s a long way up from the street, and sometimes you feel a bit disconnected from the ground, but it’s where we do our business. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the walls, just people trying to get their reports and tasks finished before the day ends. It’s a professional environment but we still have our moments of just chatting and catching up with each other.
