Satish General Store

Satish General Store is right in the middle of Sadar Bazar. If you have ever been to Sadar, you know how crowded and loud it gets. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with everything you can think of. We have snacks, soap, notebooks, and all the small household items people need every day. It is a very small space for the amount of stuff we keep inside. Most of the time, I am standing behind the counter reaching for things on high shelves. We know most of our customers because they live nearby or walk past every morning. We don't have any fancy displays. Everything is just shoved into where it fits. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. The morning starts with us taking down the shutters and sweeping the front step. Then it is just a steady flow of people until late at night. We don't use any computers here, we just know the prices and keep the change in a wooden drawer. It is a bit chaotic but it works for us. Sadar Bazar is a place where you have to be quick. We have been here for a long time and seen the market change quite a bit. It is just a simple store for everyday things. We don't try to be anything else but a local shop.
