Our small business is based in Sector 22B of Gurugram, at number 806. It’s a pretty standard spot in a residential-cum-commercial area. We operate Raoj Garment (Opc) Private Limited from here, which is basically a one-person or small team operation as the name suggests. The room we work in is filled with a couple of sewing machines and a lot of hangers. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a fancy reception desk or anything like that. Most of the time, the floor is covered with patterns cut out of brown paper. We do everything from sourcing the material to finishing the final stitch ourselves. Sector 22B is a busy area, so there’s always something going on outside, but inside we just focus on the clothes. Sometimes we have to move the furniture around just to make enough space to lay out a large piece of fabric on the floor. It’s a very hands-on way of working. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure that whatever we finish is done properly. The lighting isn't perfect, so we have a few extra lamps clipped to the tables. It’s a simple, practical life here at 806, where the main thing is just keeping the machines running and making sure the orders are ready on time for whoever needs them. We just take it one garment at a time.
