Our place, Jagdamba, is situated over in Gurgaon Village 4. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time now. We don't really have a big fancy sign or anything that would catch your eye from far away. It’s just a local shop where folks from around here come to get what they need for their homes. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how we stack the boxes and bags. We keep things very simple here. We aren't trying to compete with those huge stores in the city. Life in the village has its own pace, and we like that. We know our customers by name and we know their families too. Sometimes a neighbor will come in and we’ll talk for twenty minutes before they even buy anything. That’s just the way it is in Village 4. The building itself is quite old and has its quirks, like a door that sticks in the rainy season. We open up early in the morning just as the sun is coming up and stay open until it’s dark. We sell the basic things that people use every day. If someone needs something special, we try to see if we can get it for them next time we get a delivery. We don’t have any fancy story to tell. We just show up, open the doors, and do our best to help out the people who live nearby. It’s a quiet but good life.
