Jyoti General Store

Being in Sector 9, things are always moving around us. Jyoti General Store has been here for a good bit now. It is just a basic shop where you can find your daily household items without much fuss. We keep the bins full of different kinds of rice and dal. People come in looking for specific brands of oil or just a quick pack of matches when they run out. The morning is the busiest time because everyone is trying to get stuff before work or for the kids' lunches. I try to keep things tidy, but with so many small items, it’s hard. We have some plastic buckets hanging from the ceiling and stacks of soap near the entrance. It is a bit cramped inside when more than three people are there at once. We don't have any staff, just the family taking turns at the counter. Sometimes my son sits here in the afternoon while I take a nap or run errands. Sector 9 has a lot of families, so we sell a lot of milk and bread. We know who wants the brown bread and who only buys the white one. It is a small life but it is ours. The street outside can get a bit loud with the traffic, but inside it’s just the sound of the fan and people asking for prices. We don't have any big signs, just the name Jyoti General Store on the front. It's enough for the locals to find us.
