Ammus General Store

Ammus General Store is tucked into Shiva Market 3 on the MehrauliGurgaon Road. It’s one of those places where you can find a bit of everything if you look long enough. We spend most of our time unboxing crates and putting things on the shelves. The space is a bit tight because we try to stock whatever the neighbors might need, from soap to snacks. It’s often just one or two of us behind the counter, chatting with whoever walks in. Shiva Market can be a bit chaotic with all the traffic on the main road, but inside the store, it’s just the usual routine. We know who likes which brand of tea and who’s going to come in late for bread. Sometimes we lose track of time just organizing the back room or checking the dates on the milk packets. It’s not a polished supermarket with bright lights and uniforms. It’s just a local shop where the door squeaks a little and we know most of our customers by name. We’ve been at this for a long time now. The shelves are wooden and show a bit of wear, and the floor has its marks, but it’s our space. We just keep the inventory moving and make sure the change is right at the end of the day. It’s a quiet kind of busy that suits us just fine.
