Yash Trunk House

If you go down to the Trunk Market on the Main Road, you will find us there. Yash Trunk House has been sitting in this same spot for a long time. You can usually hear us before you see us because there is always someone hammering on a piece of metal or moving those big steel boxes around. We make all kinds of trunks, from the small ones for keeping papers safe to the massive ones people use when they are moving house or sending their kids off to a hostel. The air inside the shop always smells like fresh paint and cold iron. My hands are usually stained with a bit of grey or black from the metal sheets we handle all day. We have them stacked up against the walls and sometimes it feels like the whole place is made of steel. The traffic on the Main Road is always loud, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. It is hard work and my back usually hurts by the time we close up for the night, but it is what we do. People come from all over Gurgaon H.O. because they know these trunks will last a lifetime. We don't use any fancy machines, just the old tools my uncle used. Sometimes the hinges are a bit stiff, so we put a little oil on them before the customer takes them away. It is just basic, solid work that stays the same year after year. We take our time with each one.
