Gagan Cooling Industries

We are based on Mehrauli Road and the business is Gagan Cooling Industries. When the heat starts picking up in the summer, this place gets incredibly busy. We work with air coolers and all the parts that go into them, like the pumps, the pads, and the big metal fans. The workshop is always full of the sound of metal being cut or the hum of motors being tested. We have stacks of cooler bodies lined up outside on the pavement when it is peak season. Mehrauli Road is always full of traffic, so we have to be careful when we are loading the big units onto the rickshaws or trucks. My clothes usually have a bit of oil or grease on them by the end of the day. It is a hot job, especially when we are working near the welding area. We have a few big fans running all the time just to keep ourselves cool while we work. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come in, you will usually find me or one of the guys with a wrench in hand. We just show people what we have and tell them how to keep the machine running through the worst of the heat. Sometimes we get old coolers brought in for repair that are more rust than metal, but we try to fix what we can. It is a noisy, dusty way to make a living, but it’s what we know how to do best here on the main road. It keeps us moving.
