Thakar Watch House

We have been sitting here at Thakar Watch House for more years than I can really count. The shop is in the Raja Building, which is right there on New Railway Road, basically directly across from the Bhagava Palace. If you are looking for us, just look for the big palace gates and then turn around. It is a busy part of town with a lot of noise and people moving towards the station all day long. Inside the shop, things are a bit slower. We spend most of our time looking through those tiny magnifying glasses at watch internals. It is tedious work but someone has to do it. My hands get a bit shaky sometimes if I drink too much tea, but I still manage to get the pins back in place. We have all sorts of watches in the glass cases, some have been there a long time and others go out the door the same day they come in. It is not a shiny showroom like the ones you see in the malls. The floor is a bit worn down from people walking in and out. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that competes with the wall clocks. We do not really do fancy marketing or anything. If someone needs a new battery or their watch stopped working after they dropped it, they just come by. We see the same people every day walking past to work. It is a good spot to watch the world go by from behind the counter. New Railway Road has changed a lot, but the Raja Building stays mostly the same. We just keep fixing watches and it keeps us busy. We don't have any fancy statements to make. We just open up in the morning and close when the market shuts down.
