Gupta Watch Co has been on Old Railway Road for a long time. We are right opposite the Bank of India on the main road, so it is pretty easy to find if you are in the area doing your banking. The shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a regular storefront with plenty of watches on display. We keep things pretty simple here. Most days involve opening up the shutters early and dusting off the display cases because the road outside gets so much traffic. The dust just settles on everything no matter how much you wipe. We handle a lot of repairs, mostly things like broken straps or glass that got cracked. People come in with watches their grandfathers gave them, hoping we can make them tick again. Sometimes we can, sometimes the parts are just not made anymore. It is quiet work for the most part, except for the sound of the buses passing by outside. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us who know how to handle the tools. We don't use computers much, mostly just paper receipts and a pen. It works fine for us. If you are walking down Old Railway Road and your watch is showing the wrong time, you can just pop in. We usually have the radio on in the background, playing old songs from movies. It keeps the day moving along while we work on the tiny gears and springs. We’ve been here so long the bank feels like our only permanent neighbor and we like it that way.
