If you’ve ever walked down M.G Road near Sikandarpur, you know how loud and busy it gets. That’s where my shop, Sonu Cell Phone, is located. I’ve been here right in the middle of all that chaos for quite a few years. My day is mostly spent looking at tiny screws and phone motherboards under a lamp. It’s hard on the eyes, but that’s the job. People come in from the metro station or the nearby DLF Phase 1 offices because they cracked their screen or their charging port stopped working. I have a lot of different cables and plugs hanging on the walls because everyone seems to lose theirs or they just stop working for no reason. I don't have a big team or anything, it's just me and a helper sometimes. We keep the shop open late because that's when most people are coming home from work and realize they need something for their phone. The dust from the main road is a constant battle, I’m always wiping down the counters. It’s not a glamorous spot, but it’s right where people need it. I see the same faces every day, commuters mostly. I try to get things fixed quickly because nobody likes being without their phone for more than an hour. It’s a simple life, just fixing what’s broken and selling what’s needed to keep those devices running in this busy part of town.
