Shakti Times is located right in the middle of Apna Bazar, at number 7. This market is always crowded, and being here means we are part of that daily chaos. The shop has been around for a long time, and you can tell by the way the floor is worn down. We deal with watches and timepieces, which is a bit of a traditional trade these days. A lot of people come in with old watches that belonged to their fathers, asking if we can get them ticking again. We spend hours hunched over small parts with a magnifying glass. It’s quiet work in a noisy market. The sounds of other sellers shouting their prices come in through the open door all day long. We don't have a fancy showroom or bright flashing lights. It’s just a wooden counter, some tools, and rows of clocks on the walls. In the winter, the shop feels a bit cold, so we keep a small heater by our feet. We take pride in just doing the job right without making a big fuss about it. People know us for being honest about whether something can be fixed or if it’s time to let it go. We close up when the market starts to thin out in the late evening. It’s a repetitive life, but there’s something nice about the rhythm of the clocks and the market. We have seen many shops around us change owners, but we just stay here doing our thing.
