Mahesh Sanff Factory

Inside Nagori Gate in Jodhpur, it gets pretty loud with all the scooters and people passing by all day. We are right by Jeewan Das Ka Kuwa, and most people around here know the spot. It is a simple place, honestly. We spend our days at Mahesh Sanff Factory dealing with the fennel, which has a very strong smell that stays on your clothes long after you leave for the day. The building is old and shows its age with the cracks in the plaster, but it serves us well enough for what we do. We don't have fancy desks or a lobby for visitors to sit in. Usually, there are just piles of bags and the sound of the machinery running in the back. In the summer, Jodhpur gets incredibly hot, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done before the sun is directly overhead. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside on the stone steps for a bit until it comes back on. It is not the kind of place you see in a magazine. It is just where we work every day, year after year. The neighbors at the nearby shops are friendly, and we often share tea from the guy at the corner. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us making sure everything is moving along as it should. It’s a bit dusty and cramped, but it’s ours.
