Hewitt Associates

Our office at 125 Vikaspuri in New Delhi is right in the thick of things. If you know this part of Delhi, you know it’s always moving. The building we’re in is older, and our floor is usually pretty busy with people coming and going. We have a small team here working for Hewitt Associates. It’s not the kind of place with a fancy lobby or a bunch of screens showing stock prices. It’s just us at our desks, usually with a lot of tabs open on our computers. The lighting is a bit bright, but it keeps us awake during the post-lunch slump. We share the building with a few other businesses, so you meet people in the stairs or the elevator. Lunch is usually a group affair where we sit around and talk about the news or what’s happening in the neighborhood. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers know us by name. The work itself can be repetitive, but it’s important, and we try to do it right the first time. There’s no big corporate vibe here; it feels more like a local shop where everyone knows their job. We don’t have much time for fluff or meetings that could have been an email. We just get the work sorted and try to avoid the worst of the evening traffic when it’s time to leave. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of workplace for all of us. We manage things well enough.
