Down in Gurgaon, at 223 3B Rajiv Colony right near NH8, is where Essen Management Consultants is based. Being so close to the highway means it’s always noisy with the sound of trucks and cars rushing by. It’s a busy place, and that energy usually makes its way into our office too. We’re in a simple building that doesn't stand out much from the others on the block. Inside, we have our desks and a small area for files and a printer that occasionally jams. We spend most of our time talking to people and trying to help them figure out how to run their businesses better. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds; it’s mostly just listening and looking at spreadsheets. The office is a bit small, so we’ve had to get creative with how we store things. We have a small window that looks out towards the highway, which is mostly just a view of the traffic. The air conditioner is our best friend during the summer months when the Haryana heat really kicks in. We’re a small team, and we’ve all been working together for a long time, so we know each other's habits. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just show up every morning and try to be useful. It's a crowded little space but we get things done eventually.
