Ernst Young

Our office is situated at 849 in Sector 17A of Gurgaon. This part of town is pretty established, so the roads are lined with trees and it feels a bit more settled than the newer sectors. The building is a simple structure where Ernst Young has been for some time. We have a couple of desks pushed together in the middle of the room where most of the work happens. It is a bit of a trek for some of us to get here from Delhi, but the Metro helps. We keep a stash of biscuits and coffee in the back room for those long afternoons. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed; we do not wear suits unless there is a really big reason to. Usually, it is just jeans and shirts. We have some old shelves that are sagging under the weight of some manuals and old records. The phone rings fairly often, and we take turns answering it. It is a practical work environment without any of the fancy stuff you see in the big tech parks nearby. We know the local chai stall guy by name, and he knows exactly how we like our tea. It is just a group of people working hard in a quiet corner of Haryana. We do not try to be anything we are not. We stay late sometimes when there is a lot to do, but we usually try to leave before the sun goes down.
