Assistant Manager

My office is located at 183 3 in Lajpatnagar, right here in Gurgaon. I am the assistant manager for this small branch. Gurgaon is always changing with new tall buildings going up everywhere you look, but Lajpatnagar has stayed pretty much the same for us over the years. It is a busy spot. My job involves a bit of everything, from talking to customers who walk in to making sure the back office does not fall apart during the week. It is not a high-rise office with glass walls or a view. We are in a regular building, and the stairs are a little bit narrow. Inside, it is just a couple of rooms with some old desks and a computer that has seen better days. I have worked here for a few years now. The morning usually starts with checking the messages and then trying to get through the pile of paperwork that sits on my desk. I do not use any big management theories or anything like that. I just talk to people and try to solve whatever problem came up that day. Sometimes it is a billing issue, other times it is just a scheduling conflict. It is straightforward work. Most of the people who come in are regulars from the local neighborhood. We know their names and how they like things done. It feels more like a small community than a corporate office. We just try to get things right each day.
