Shree Velagapudi Ramakrishna Memorial College

This college is situated in Nagaram, which is in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. It’s a memorial college and has been a landmark in this small town for many years. We have a lot of students from Nagaram and the nearby villages coming here for their degrees. The campus is quite traditional with older buildings and wide porches to keep the heat out. Guntur can get very hot, so the shade from the trees on our grounds is very important during the summer months. We have a main office where the staff handles all the paperwork and a series of classrooms for different subjects. It’s a typical degree college setup. You’ll see students sitting under the trees or in the corridors talking between their classes. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or modern glass architecture. It’s all brick and mortar here. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, though it gets a bit tense during the exam seasons. Many of our teachers have been here for their entire careers and they know the families in Nagaram very well. It feels like a local institution where everyone is familiar with one another. We just try to keep the daily schedule going so the students can get their work done and graduate. It’s a simple, reliable place for higher education in this part of the district. We’re just a regular college serving the local community year after year without too much fuss.
