Little Flower School, Rapti Nagar, Gorakhpur

We are located in Rapti Nagar Phase IV, over in the Chargawan area of Gorakhpur. It’s a residential part of town, so things are mostly quiet until the school day starts. The school building is pretty straightforward. It’s made of brick and mortar, with several floors of classrooms. You find us by following the main road into the phase and looking for the gates. There is a lot of activity in the mornings when the kids arrive from the nearby colonies. Some walk, some come on cycles. The staff lives mostly in the surrounding areas too. We have a small courtyard where everyone gathers. The walls are painted a simple color. Inside, the classrooms have rows of desks and blackboards. It’s a very traditional setup. There is a small office where we keep the registers and the mail. During the winter, it gets quite foggy here in Gorakhpur. You can hardly see the gate from the front door. In the summer, it’s the opposite, with the sun beating down on the roof. We just go about our business, teaching the lessons and keeping the place clean. The neighborhood kids have been coming here for years. It’s just a part of the local landscape now. We don't have any big slogans or anything like that. It’s just a school in Rapti Nagar where people come to do their work and then go home.
