Jallu Biryani Centre

If you’re walking around Ilahi Bagh in Gorakhpur, you’ll probably smell the rice and meat before you see us. We are located right near the Aaga Masjid. It’s a lively area, especially on Fridays or during the holidays. At Jallu Biryani Centre, we don't have a long menu. We do one thing and we try to do it right every single day. We use these big metal pots that sit over the flames for hours. The steam fills up the small shop and sometimes drifts out onto the street. It’s a crowded little spot, and most people just take their food to go. We have a couple of benches if you want to sit down, but it’s not exactly a quiet restaurant. There’s usually a bit of a queue during the dinner rush. We don't have a team of waiters in uniforms. It’s just us behind the counter, scooping out portions and wrapping them up. The neighborhood knows us well. We’ve been at this spot in Gorakhpur for a long time. We don't have a logo or any fancy signs. Just the name and the food. Sometimes we close early if the pots are empty. That’s just how it is. We buy our spices locally and the meat comes in fresh. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting those heavy pots and keeping the fire going, but we like being part of the Ilahi Bagh community and feeding the people here.
