It’s a quiet area, but the shop stays busy enough. My father started this chakki and I've been running it for a long time now. We grind wheat into flour for the people in the village and the surrounding areas. It's a very simple setup. The stone grinder makes a rhythmic sound that I’ve grown used to over the years. The floor is always covered in a thin layer of white dust. It’s hard work, lifting the heavy bags of grain, but it keeps me fit. People bring their own grain sometimes, or they just buy what we have ready. We don't have a website or any of that modern stuff. People know us because we’ve been here forever. We sit on the bench outside when there aren't many customers and watch the goats go by. The shop is small and a bit dark inside, but the machines are well-oiled. We don't use any fancy additives, just plain flour. It’s a basic life but an honest one. We know everyone who comes in and we usually have time for a quick bit of gossip while the machine is running. It's just home for us and it's what we do best.
