Virdi Mechanical Works

Virdi Mechanical Works is basically just a workshop over here in the Industrial Area on Meerut Road. If you walk into D-18/2, you’ll mostly see a bunch of machines and us covered in some amount of grease or oil. It’s not the cleanest place because that’s not really how mechanical work goes. We spend most of our mornings getting the power tools ready and checking what needs to be fixed or shaped for the day. There is a lot of noise from the lathes and the grinding wheels, so we usually have to shout a bit to hear each other. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s when everything actually gets quiet for ten minutes. Most of the people around here are doing the same kind of stuff, so we know the neighbors well. We don’t have a big fancy office or anyone to answer the phones in a suit. If you come by, you’ll just find us on the shop floor. Sometimes the parts we need don't arrive on time, which is annoying, but we just find something else to work on until they show up. It’s a lot of manual labor and figuring out how to make things fit together right. We’ve been at this spot for a good while and the routine doesn’t change much, which is fine by us. It’s just how things work in this part of town.
