Shubham Handloom Factory

The work at Shubham Handloom Factory is mostly about the sound of the looms and the feel of the threads. We are situated in Modi Nagar at Shivachowk, right in the Govindpuri area. It is a place where there is always a bit of dust in the air from the cotton and the fabric being moved around. We have several machines running at once, so it gets quite loud inside the factory walls. You can hear the rhythmic clicking of the looms from outside on the street. We spend our days checking the patterns and making sure the yarn doesn't get tangled up as it feeds into the machines. It is a lot of standing and walking around the floor to make sure everything is running okay. The lighting isn't always the best, but we know the machines well enough to work even when it is a bit dim. We get a lot of people from around Modi Nagar stopping by to see what we are making. It is a practical business, and we don't spend much time on anything other than the actual weaving. In the afternoons, the sun beats down on the roof and it gets pretty warm, so we usually take a short break then. Working with handlooms takes a bit of patience because things can go wrong with the tension or the colors, but we just fix it and keep on going.
