Shri Raghunath Singh Inter College

Shri Raghunath Singh Inter College is out in Akbarpur Behrampur, on the Tigri Road in Ghaziabad. This part of Uttar Pradesh is quite busy with all the new construction and the roads, but we’re tucked away in the village area. The college is an inter college, so we have the older students finishing their schooling here. It’s a large building, mostly made of brick and concrete, and it can get quite cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. We have a big open space in the front where the students gather. The road outside can be quite dusty with all the trucks passing by, so we’re always cleaning the windows and the desks. Most of our students come from the surrounding villages. They often walk or come on their bikes. We have a staff room where the teachers sit and drink tea while they grade the papers. It’s a very traditional setup. We don't have a lot of modern technology, just the usual classrooms and a few labs for science. We focus on the state board exams because that’s what the kids need to move forward. There’s always some repair work going on, whether it's fixing a door or painting a wall. We just try to provide a decent place for the local kids to study without them having to go all the way into the main city of Ghaziabad. It’s a plain, honest school for the local community.
