Sangam Rice Mills

We spend most of our days here at Plot No- 7A in the Factory Area. It gets pretty loud once the machines start up, but you get used to it after a while. Most people know us as Sangam Rice Mills. We mostly deal with the trucks coming in and out from the nearby fields. There is always a layer of dust on the windows and the floor, no matter how much we sweep it up. It is just the way it is when you handle so much grain every day. In the mornings, we get the tea going before the heavy work starts. The shed is big, but it fills up fast when harvest season hits. We have some guys who have been here for years, and they know the sound of the huller better than anyone. It isn’t fancy work, just moving bags and checking the moisture. Sometimes the gates get stuck if the mud gets too thick during the rains. We keep a spare set of tools in the corner for those days. The sun hits the roof quite hard in the summer, making it warm inside, but we keep the fans running. People drop by to talk about the crop prices or just to see how the day is going. We don't have much of an office, just a desk with too many papers on it. It’s a busy spot.
