RP Traders& Timbers

If you go down towards Nashir Pur Phatak, you will find us at Shop No. 9. We are part of the 38 Vivekananad Nagar block. Being near the railway crossing, or the phatak as everyone calls it, means we hear the trains going by all the time. It becomes a sort of background noise after a few days. RP Traders& Timbers is mostly about the smell of cut wood and sawdust. We have stacks of timber piled up, and sometimes it gets hard to walk around in the shop when a new shipment arrives. The area around Vivekanand Nagar is mostly residential, so we see a lot of neighbors walking past. We have been in this spot for a while now. The shop front is simple, just some wood samples and our name painted on the board. We spend a lot of time measuring things out and talking to people about what kind of wood they need for their house projects. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting heavy planks and moving things around to find the right piece. Sometimes we sit outside on the wooden crates when the weather is nice. We don't have a website or anything like that. People usually just find us by word of mouth or by seeing the shop while waiting for the train gate to open. We keep a notebook to track who owes what and what needs to be ordered for next week. It’s a small shop but we keep it going.
