Nayim Paan Corner

You can find our little corner at 164, Part-1, Pratap Vihar in Nangloi. It is not a very big place, just a small stall really, but it’s been our livelihood for a long time. The street is usually quite busy with people moving back and forth between their homes and the local shops. I spend my days sitting in the shade of the awning, prepping the leaves and chatting with whoever stops by for a few minutes. It’s a social kind of job, you hear all the local news and gossip before anyone else does. My hands are usually stained from the ingredients, but that just goes with the territory. We don't have any fancy equipment, just the basic tools and a small counter where everything happens. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood come by just to see what’s going on, and I have to tell them to move along so the customers can get through. Pratap Vihar is a crowded area, so space is always a bit tight, but we make it work. I’ve lived in Nangloi for most of my life, so I know almost everyone on this block. It’s a simple existence, really, just opening up in the morning and closing when it gets dark. We don't have a big sign or anything like that, just the address 164. People find us well enough through word of mouth. It’s just a honest little spot for the locals to gather for a minute.
