Nathus Sweets

Rajnagar RDC is where everyone seems to end up in the evenings. Our shop at 19/20 has been part of that scene for a while. Nathus Sweets is usually full of people standing around the counters or waiting for their snacks to be packed. We have the usual rows of milk sweets and dry fruits, and the kitchen in the back is always going. You can hear the clinking of spoons and the sound of the pressure cooker if you stand near the back wall. It’s a big space but it feels small when the dinner rush starts. The floor is made of that old stone that stays cool, which is nice in the summer. We have a few staff members who have been here since the beginning, so they know exactly how much salt or sugar goes into everything without even thinking about it. RDC is a place with a lot of offices, so we get a lot of people coming in for a quick bite before they head home. The traffic outside is always a headache, but once you’re inside, it’s just the smell of ghee and spices. We don't really do much in the way of advertising; people just know we are here between the other shops. It’s just a regular business, doing the same things every day and hoping the power doesn't go out. We just keep the counters full and the tea hot for whoever walks in.
