Moonga Ice Depot

It gets pretty cold in here, which I guess is what you’d expect from an ice depot. We are right at Shop No 112/6 in Arya Nagar, Sarai Khwaja. If you know the area, you know it gets crowded around here. Most days start early before the sun really hits. We spend a lot of time moving heavy blocks around. It’s a lot of lifting, honestly. My hands are usually freezing even in the middle of summer. People come in from the neighborhood when their coolers stop working or they have a party. We don’t have fancy signs or anything. Just the name Moonga Ice Depot painted out front. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the narrow lane, and it’s a whole thing trying to get them out. It’s been this way for a while now. We keep the floor as dry as we can, but there is always some puddle somewhere. It’s just the nature of the work. You get used to the dampness. Sarai Khwaja is a busy place, and we just try to keep up with the orders that come in. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. Arya Nagar has changed a bit over the years, more shops popping up, but we are still here in the same spot. We mostly just focus on getting the ice out before it melts too much. That’s pretty much the whole story of this place.
