About Jagat Narain Misthan Bhandar – Food & Beverages in Ghaziabad
If you walk into the Subzi Mandi at Ghanta Ghar and look for Shop No 2, you will find us there. We make sweets and snacks every day, starting very early while most people are still sleeping. The smell of frying samosas and boiling milk usually fills the air around our corner of the market. We have been here for a long time, and the shop shows its age with the worn-out tiles and the old display cases. We don't have any fancy seating, just a few spots where people can stand and eat their snacks. The vegetable market is a very busy place, so there is always a lot of noise and shouting from the vendors outside. We keep our sweets in glass boxes to keep the flies away, and we try to make enough so we don't run out before the afternoon. My clothes usually have a bit of flour or sugar on them by the time I go home. We don't use any modern machines for the most part; everything is done by hand like it always has been. People come in for a quick bite after they finish their vegetable shopping. It’s a hectic place to work but we like being in the middle of all the action. We just focus on making the traditional stuff that people like to eat. It’s a simple life selling sweets in the market and we wouldn't know what else to do.
