Gulab Singh & Co.

You can find us over at Plot No 10/20, right near the Jain Tube factory on Meerut Road. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not the cleanest place, but it works for what we do at Gulab Singh & Co. We’ve been around this part of town for quite some time. The yard is usually full of materials and there is always a truck or two backed up. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. Usually, if someone comes by, they just walk into the main work area and find one of us. We do a lot of heavy lifting and manual work here. The sun beats down on the corrugated roof in the summer, making it pretty warm inside, but we’re used to it. Most of the guys here have been with the company for years. We know each other’s families and how we like to work. It’s a straightforward business. We don't use much technology besides the basics needed to keep the books. Most of our deals are done with a handshake and a conversation. The road outside is always busy with lorries going towards Meerut, so there's a constant hum of engines. We keep our tools sharp and our heads down. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work that pays the bills. We just focus on getting the orders out the gate on time and keeping the equipment running.
