Bhola Ice Depot

Up here in Sahibabad Shyam Park, things get really hot during the summer. That’s usually when we are the busiest at Bhola Ice Depot. We deal with heavy blocks of ice all day. It’s a lot of lifting and moving stuff around. Our hands stay cold even when the rest of us is sweating. The floor is almost always a bit wet from the melting ice, so we have to be careful not to slip. We’ve been at this location for a long time. People from the nearby shops come to us when their coolers are empty. It’s a very basic business. We don't have a front office or a waiting room. It’s just the depot and the trucks coming in and out. The neighbors know us well. We talk to the tea seller next door every morning. Some days it’s just waiting for the next delivery to arrive. We don't use any fancy technology here. Just some old hooks and scales. It’s noisy work, especially when we’re breaking down the larger blocks. We just try to keep the supply steady so nobody’s drinks get warm. When winter comes, things slow down a lot, and we just do maintenance on the equipment. It’s a cycle we’ve followed for years now. We just do our job and go home when the sun sets. We don't need much more than that to stay satisfied.
