Bangla Sweets Corner

Bangla Sweets Corner is tucked away at L 197 in Sahibabad Lajpat Nagar. We’ve been in this specific building for a long time. It’s got that old neighborhood feel to it. The street outside is narrow and sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing the trays. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we don’t mind it. The smell of the sweets is something you get used to after a while. We know almost everyone on this block. They come in for a chat even if they aren't buying anything. We don't have a big marketing budget or a social media person. We just rely on the fact that people know where we are. The counter is a bit scratched up and the lighting isn't the best, but it works for us. We focus on making things the way we were taught. It’s a lot of manual labor, stirring big vats for hours. My hands are always a bit sticky by the end of the day. We try to keep the prices fair so the local families can come in often. It’s a modest business. We don't have big dreams of opening fifty stores. We just want to keep this one running well for the people in Lajpat Nagar. We close up when the trays are empty or when it gets too late to stay awake.
