Amroon Foods

Our facility is at Site IV in the industrial area. It’s a big space at 20/1 where we handle all the food processing. Being in an industrial zone means we are surrounded by other factories and warehouses. It’s a busy environment with a lot of noise and movement. We’ve got machines running and people in hairnets and aprons all over the place. We take food safety seriously, but we don't talk about it in a fancy way. We just wash everything and keep the floors clean. It’s a lot of work to keep a food business going. We start our shifts early to get the prep work done. The trucks arrive with supplies and we have to check everything before it goes into the system. We aren't a boutique shop or a gourmet place. We just make food in large quantities for people to eat. The air often smells like whatever we are cooking that day. Sometimes it's a bit overwhelming, but you get used to it. We just focus on the numbers and the quality of what leaves the loading dock. It’s a tough business, but we have a good crew who knows what they are doing. Most of the guys have been with us for a few years now. We don't do much marketing, the orders just come in and we fill them as they come. It is hard work but it pays the bills.
