Our workshop is over at A 72 in the Gidc Electronics Estate. If you’ve ever been to Sec-25, you know it’s mostly just rows of units and a lot of industrial activity. We’ve been here at Automation And Engineering Services for a good while now. It’s a dusty place sometimes, especially when the wind picks up across the estate. We spend our hours looking at blueprints and fiddling with control panels. There is always some piece of machinery that needs a bit of tweaking or a new part fitted. It’s not the kind of work where you stay clean. Most of us have grease under our fingernails by lunch. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and find someone in the back working on a project. The coffee machine in the corner is probably the most used thing in the building. We focus on the practical side of engineering. If something breaks, we look at it until we figure out why. It’s about logic and tools. The neighbors are all doing similar things, so there is a lot of noise from trucks and loading docks throughout the day. We like it here though. It feels real. We don’t bother with fancy suits or polished desks. A solid workbench is more useful anyway. We just keep doing our thing at A 72, making sure the systems we handle actually do what they are supposed to do when the power goes on. That's it.
