Mahavir Marble

Out here at 98, G I D C Area in Gandhidham-Kachchh, the wind blows a lot of dust around. At Mahavir Marble, we spend our days moving heavy slabs of stone and organizing the yard. It’s physically demanding work, and we’re all pretty tired by the end of the shift. We have different types of marble and granite stacked up everywhere. It’s not a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of our stock is sitting out in the open or under simple tin sheds. Customers come by to pick out a piece for their floors or counters. They walk around the yard with us, and we talk about the different patterns and where the stone came from. Kachchh is a rugged place, and our business reflects that. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us, the forklift, and the stone. Sometimes the crane acts up, and we have to spend half the morning fixing it instead of moving marble. That’s just part of life in the G I D C area. We take a break in the afternoon when the heat is at its worst and sit in the small office with the fan on. We’ve sold stone to a lot of families around here over the years. It’s a straightforward business and we don't try to make it seem like more than it is.
