Shri Ram Stone

Our shop is located near Hotel Ras Vatika on the Madhapar Bhuj Odi Highway in Madhapar. It’s a very busy stretch of road and we have been here for quite some time now. Most people find us just by driving past on their way to Bhuj. We deal in different kinds of stone and it is mostly a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around. We don't have a showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It is just the open yard and a small shed where we keep the tools and some of the more delicate pieces. The sun can be really strong out here on the highway, so we spend a lot of time in the shade when we can. We get people coming in from all over the district. They usually have a truck or a small tempo and they want to pick out something for a small job at home. We just let them wander around the stacks and look at the patterns in the stone. No one is going to follow you around trying to sell you something you don't need. We are just regular people trying to run a decent business. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of traffic on the highway, and we just have to sit and wait. It’s a bit of a slow life in some ways, but it’s honest work and we like it. We’ve seen the area grow a lot and more buildings come up every year.
