Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Our school is located in the village of Bring Khera, near Khara in the Muktsar area. Being a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, it’s a residential setup, so the kids live here on the campus. This means we are busy twenty-four hours a day. The staff lives on-site too, so we’re all like one big group. The mornings start early with physical exercise and then breakfast in the mess hall. It’s a simple life out here in the countryside. We have students who come from different parts of the district. The buildings are spread out with plenty of open space for the kids to run around when they aren't in class. We don’t have fancy city amenities, but we have what’s necessary for a good education. The library is a popular spot during the evenings. We deal with the usual stuff like fixing leaky pipes in the hostels or making sure the kitchen has enough supplies for the week. It’s a lot of responsibility to look after other people’s children all day and night. We try to keep a steady routine so everyone knows what to expect. The air is clean here, far away from the city noise. We just go about our business, teaching the kids and making sure they grow up to be decent people. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place where hard work is expected from everyone. We just stick to the schedule and make sure the place runs smoothly for everyone living here.
