Our school is located right inside Bansi Gate in Ferozepur City. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history and narrow streets. The building itself has been around for many years, and you can see that in the thick walls and the high ceilings. We have hundreds of girls coming through the gates every morning. The sound of the morning assembly is something everyone in the neighborhood knows well. It’s a senior secondary school, so things get a bit more serious for the older students who are preparing for their final exams. The classrooms are filled with rows of wooden benches that have been there for a long time. We have a small courtyard where the students gather during their break times. It’s mostly just a dirt ground, but it’s where they talk and share their lunch. We don't have a lot of modern technology or fancy facilities here. It’s a traditional school where the focus is just on the lessons and the books. The teachers have been with us for a long time and they know the families in Ferozepur well. Living and working inside Bansi Gate means we are right in the middle of the daily bustle. It can get loud with the traffic outside, but once you’re inside the school walls, it feels like its own little world. We just keep the school running day after day, year after year.
