KPM Wood Working Machinery

You can find us on Railway Road in Sirhind. It’s a pretty busy street with a lot of people moving around, especially since it's close to the station. KPM Wood Working Machinery is basically a workshop where we put together the tools people use for carpentry and furniture making. There is always a lot of metal scraps and sawdust around, no matter how much we sweep. We have been in Fatehgarhsahib for a long time, and most people around here know us by name. It’s a small shop, really. We spend the day working with lathes and welding sets. It’s oily work, and our hands are usually stained by the time we head home. We don't have a receptionist or a big waiting room. Usually, if someone comes by, they just walk right into the back where we are working. We build these machines from scratch, so it takes time and a lot of patience. Sometimes a customer comes in with an old machine that needs fixing, and we see if we can get it running again. The trains passing by make a lot of noise, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We usually stop for a lassi in the afternoon when it gets too hot to stay inside. It's just a simple life here, making things that help other people do their work. We don't worry about much else besides getting the parts to fit together properly and keeping the tools sharp for tomorrow.
