Rattia Onion Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is called Rattia Onion Farmers Producer Company Limited. We have a small shop, number 114, on the first floor of the Anaj Mandi in Rattia. Being right there in the market makes it easier for us to see what’s going on every day. Most of us grow onions around Fatehabad. It’s a tough crop because the prices change so fast and the weather doesn't always help. We decided to come together so we could have a bit more say in how things are sold. It’s mostly just us farmers sitting around and figuring out the best way to move the harvest. The Anaj Mandi is always loud and busy, which we like. We spend our mornings there checking the loads and talking to other growers. It’s a practical way to work. We don’t have any big corporate goals, we just want to get a fair deal for the onions we work so hard to grow. Haryana has good soil for this if you know what you are doing. We’ve all been doing this since we were kids, learning from our fathers and uncles. The shop is where we meet to talk about seeds, water, and the current market prices. It’s not a fancy place, just a room with some chairs and a lot of talk about farming. It works for us and keeps the community together. We stay focused on the onions and the seasons through the year.
