Kissan Unnati Farmer Producer Company Limited isn’t some big office in a city. We are right here in Ward No 01, Chando Khurd, in Tehsil Ratia. If you look for Mukhtyar Singh’s place, you will find us easily enough. It’s just a group of us who know what it’s like to work the ground. Most days we are just sitting around talking about the weather or why the seeds didn't do what they were supposed to last season. We started this because doing things alone was getting too hard. Everything is expensive now, from the diesel to the help. By coming together here in Ratia, we try to figure out how to get a better price or maybe share some equipment when someone’s tractor is down. It is not always organized. Sometimes the office is a bit dusty and there’s too much tea being drunk while we argue about the crop prices. But that is how things go here. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team telling us what to say. We just know the soil in this part of Chando Khurd and we know the people. When a farmer comes by, we listen to what he needs. It might be advice or just someone to complain to about the rain. We are just trying to make things a little more stable for the families living around here.
