Thanushri Mini Flour Mill

Our little mill is over in Burgur, specifically at 7896, Guruvareddiyur. It is a mini flour mill, so we don't take up a huge amount of space, but we have enough room for what we need. The building is older and has character. You can hear the hum of the motor from the street. Most of our day is spent watching the grain go into the hopper and the flour coming out the other side. It is steady work. We see people from the village every day, and most of them we know by name now. Guruvareddiyur is a small place, so news travels fast and everyone knows where the mill is. We keep a few chairs near the front for people who want to wait while we finish their order. There is usually a bit of a breeze coming through the back door, which helps with the heat. We don't use any high-tech systems here. We just use our eyes and our hands to make sure things are right. The floor is always a bit slippery with fine powder, so we have to be careful. Sometimes the machines need a bit of a kick to get started in the morning. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. We close up when the sun goes down and head home like everyone else in the area.
