Sukumar Welding Works

Sukumar Welding Works is located right here in Velliangiripudur, which is a part of Arachalur. Most days, the shop is a bit noisy because of the machines and the sparks flying around when someone is working on a gate or some agricultural tools. It is not a big fancy place, just a regular workshop where we get things done. The floor is usually covered in metal scraps and dust, and the heat from the welding torch makes it pretty warm, especially in the afternoons. We spend a lot of time grinding down rough edges and making sure everything fits together the way it should. People from around Arachalur come by when they have something broken that needs a quick fix or when they need a simple frame built. There is always a pile of iron rods in the corner and the smell of burnt metal in the air. We keep the doors open to let some air in, but it still gets quite stuffy. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit before we can get back to work. It’s just the way things go here. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner with some old notebooks to keep track of orders. It is a busy spot, and there is always something that needs to be cut or joined. We just focus on the job at hand and try to get through the pile of work every day.
