This branch of Essar Steel(Hazira) Limited is situated down in Erode, Tamil Nadu. We are at 150 Thoppupalyam on R.S. Road in Perundurai. It's a different vibe here compared to the northern offices. The air feels different and the pace is a bit more steady. We work out of this location mainly to keep an eye on the local movements. R.S. Road stays quite busy with lorries and bikes. We’ve got a simple setup. It’s mostly about managing the steel flow and making sure the paperwork for the region is correct. We speak a mix of languages in the office, but we all understand the work. The sun can be quite brutal in Perundurai, so we keep the shutters down during the peak afternoon hours. We don't have any fancy receptionists or marble floors. It’s just a functional space where we keep our logs and take our calls. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk until the generator kicks in. It’s part of the routine. We know the local shopkeepers and the guys who deliver the water. It’s a tight-knit group here. We don't use much corporate jargon. If a job needs doing, we just find the best way to get it done with what we have. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Most of us have been here since the office opened. We just try to get the steel moving without any trouble for the customers.
