Nalan Foods Products is based at number 30 on Kasthuribai Street. Kugalur is a quiet enough place, and we like it that way. We spend most of our time in the back area where we process all the food items. It is a family business, so it is just a few of us working most days. We don't have any big machines like the factories in the city. We do a lot of the mixing and packing by hand. It takes longer, but it is how we have always done it. Erode can get very hot, especially in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy work done before noon. The street outside is narrow. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time turning around. We know everyone on the street, which makes things easier. We don't have a fancy office with a receptionist. If you come by, you will probably find me with flour on my shirt or busy with some bags. We make things that people in Gobichettipalayam use every day. We don't have a website or a big marketing plan. We just rely on the quality of what we make. The building is old, and we have to fix the roof every now and then. It is just a practical way to earn a living. We have been at this address for years and don't plan on moving. It is home and work all in one place for us.
