We run Manikadan Rice at number 34 in Chennamanayakkanpatti. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time, which is nice for working. We deal mostly with bulk rice here. The building isn't much to look at, just a sturdy place to keep the grain dry and safe. We spend our days hauling bags and checking the quality of what comes in. It's heavy work, and your hands get rough from handling the jute sacks all day. We have a small group of people working here, and we all just pitch in where it's needed. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult because we have to be careful about the moisture. We keep an eye on the sacks and make sure they're stacked properly so they don't tip over. It’s a simple life, really. We start early when the air is still a bit cool. There’s always something to sweep or a bag that needs moving. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People know we're here, and they come by when they need to stock up. We just give them what they need and go back to work. It’s been this way for a while now, and we don't see much reason to change how we do things. Just a local rice spot doing what we've always done in this corner of the village.
