Kasthuri Dhall Mills

You will find Kasthuri Dhall Mills down at 30, Mukkannar St in Valayapettai Agraharam. It’s an old part of town and our building fits right in. We have been processing grains here for a long time. The work is repetitive, but it’s what we know. We wake up, open the heavy doors, and start checking the batches of dhall. The street is narrow, so when the deliveries arrive, it gets a bit crowded. We have to work fast to move the bags inside so we don’t block the way for the neighbors. It is a lot of manual labor, mostly carrying things on our shoulders and stacking them high. Valayapettai Agraharam is a quiet enough place except for the sound of our motors running. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole afternoon with a wrench in hand. It’s not a glamorous life, but it pays the bills. We talk to the other shopkeepers nearby while having a quick break. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. People know us because we have been on Mukkannar Street for years. It is just a simple, local mill run by people who live right nearby and do the work.
